in Silicon Valley, he was actively engaged in the community through his participation in numerous industry/developer conferences, entrepreneurial organisations and even pitched to Venture Capitalists.
Upon returning to Singapore he co-founded the Entrepreneur 27 Singapore branch that is now the organiser of the largest Web 2.0 UnConferences and the innovative GARAG3 Interactive
Digital Media incubator in Singapore. He was also a judge for the youth category at the StartUp@Singapore business plan competition. Since 1996 he's also been involved in conducting training sessions
for programming, 3D animation, webdesign and Macromedia Flash.
About Entrepreneur 27
First founded in 2005 in Silicon Valley, E27 consists of a group of young individuals with a passion for technology and entrepreneurship. The "27" in E27 represents their youth focus on entrepreneurs below
27 years old. Although this is more a figurative expression, than a binding rule towards the target attendees and members. E27 firmly believes that the younger generation, having grown up in an era dominated
by internet and mobile technology, possess the tech savviness and cultural awareness to create the successful enterprises of tomorrow.
Initially, the group started out by bringing together young entrepreneurs to share their experiences and show their creations. To facilitate the platform, a series of conferences were iniated especially geared
toward young professionals. E27 used the unique format of the “unconference” for these events. Rather then a top-down format with pre-determined programmes, the content of unconference sessions are driven by
the participants before and during the event. Applying the "wisdom of crowds" concept, which advocates that the cumulative knowledge of many exceeds the specialised expertise of a few.
The Singapore branche of E27 was set up in January 2006 by young entrepreneurs who returned from a year-long
technology entrepreneurship program in Silicon Valley. E27 Singapore provides an open forum for the stimulation
and exchange of ideas. To date they have held 4 major unconferences that have attracted hundreds of attendees and showcased the hottest startups in the industry. They have also developed operational ties through
co-organising events with influential student groups of INSEAD MBA, NUS, SMU and Raffles Institution.
In October 2007,Facebook Developer Garage: In October 2007, they launched the inaugural Facebook Developer Garage for Asia and went on to successfully create an event for 150 developers who came together to
discuss and ponder the future of Facebook Applications in Asia.
